The Artist: Elizabeth Franco

I am a California native and can’t imagine ever leaving this beautiful state! Currently based in Los Angeles, I draw inspiration from the local Santa Monica mountain trails and walks along the Pacific coastline. As a desert enthusiast, many of my pieces are inspired by weekend trips exploring the Mojave and Colorado Deserts.

From a young age, I was a rock collector, often gathering my family in the living room to share my latest rock-hounding finds. Today, I still cherish my love for rocks and minerals, and incorporate these natural materials into my art. In my opinion, the rich ochre tones that I can extract from natural materials evoke a beautiful sense of “warmth” that can’t be matched by synthetic paints. Through natural pigment making, I aim to bring the essence of the outdoors into my art.

Art has become a means for me to find peace and mindfulness in the busy world we live in. My goal with my art practice is to create pieces that inspire people to spend more time outdoors and bring the natural palette of colors into their homes. I hope that the pieces that make their way into other’s homes will bring them a sense of peace too.

With appreciation,

Elizabeth
